How Background Checks Work

PlatedUp requires cooks to complete background screening as part of joining the marketplace, using Checkr, a background-screening partner.

How it works

Cook identity, eligibility, food-safety documentation, platform approval, and background-check requirements are all reviewed before a cook's profile is activated. Background screening specifically is handled through Checkr.

This review happens before a cook can accept bookings, not after.

Good to know

PlatedUp doesn't publish the specific criteria or thresholds used in screening decisions, or share the contents of a cook's background report with customers. This keeps the process consistent and protects everyone's privacy.
